Reception Admissions September 2020

Hello and welcome to St Michael's, we are delighted that you will be joining us in September.

As I am sure you are aware, schools are operating slightly differently at present.  We would like to reassure you that we have a plan for induction for your children as always.  Please monitor our Facebook page and website for general information about the school.

Email below sent on Thursday 2 July.

Please find attached the New entrants information and Google Classroom Access details.  On Google Classroom you will find a number of forms that need to be completed.  If you would like a paper copy of this information, please let us know and a pack can be left outside the school office for collection.

The completed forms can be brought with you in September.

The following documents are for information - Reception Welcome booklet; Applying for Free School Meals; Free School Meal & Infant Free Meals letter; FISH leaflet; School Uniform list; St Christopher's Privacy Notice; Term Dates 2020-21; Term Dates 2021-22.

There are 3 documents that need to be completed - Pupil Information and Contact form, GDPR form, All about Me booket.

The Cool Milk form can be completed and sent to them via their Freepost address, however, this form is best completed online.

Information about school meals and a letter requesting any relevant dietary information will be forwarded to you once the tender has been awarded for our school meals contract. This is currently in process.

If you would like to book a 'meet the teacher' session once you have read the attached letter, please phone or email the school.  If you have any questions please get in touch via email at or by phone.

Below is an email sent on Wednesday 10th June with further information about our transition this year.

Dear Parent/ Carer,

I hope this email finds you and your families well and adjusting to the changes happening around us at this time. I am very aware that some of you are already part of the St Michael’s family and some of you are about to join us for the first time.

I wrote to you a few weeks ago to reassure you that we are excited about your child starting at St Michael’s and that we were awaiting advice from Government in order to plan a programme for your family which would enable you all to get to know us before September.

In the light of current guidance, it is now unfortunately clear that we will be unable to have you visit us this term. Mrs Cragg and I have an alternate transition plan we will now put into place. I hope the rough time frame below adds clarity for you.

Mrs Vile is in the process of contacting all pre-school settings to find out as much as she can about your child and how they learn.

At the beginning of July you will receive:

  • Details and a log in for ‘Google classroom’ – this is the virtual learning platform we now use across St Michael’s. Within Google classroom you will be able to have a virtual tour of Oaks and Elms learning spaces and the chance to meet the teachers and listen to some stories they have recorded for you.
  • We are also hoping to be able to offer you a virtual ‘Teams’ meeting with Mrs Cragg, Mrs Vile and Mrs Partridge so that we can meet you and get to know a little about you and your family.

Later in July:

- You will find out who your child’s teacher is. The Team look at all the information they have gathered and the form you returned with details of your child’s friends and compile class lists from this.

- We hope our transition in September will go ahead as usual with a phased start and you will receive further details of this too.

We will, of course, advise you should the Government put out guidance which might affect any of these plans.

I hope this helps you to understand how we plan to ensure your child is happy and successful in their transition to St Michael’s and I cannot wait to see you all in the very near future.

With much love,

Karen Leach

Acting Headteacher

Below are some letters that were emailed to you all on Friday 22nd May.  The email would have let you know if your child was in group 1 or group 2.

Please keep safe and healthy and we look forward to seeing you at the earliest opportunity.
