Jaguars & Pumas (Year 6)
Teachers: Mrs Bone, Mrs Richardson & Mrs Durkin
Teaching Assistants: Miss Finch, Mrs Jenner, Mrs Slack
This term we're learning how some creatures have become extinct. We've already created scripts for an audition for David Attenborough, made a green screen movie and learnt about Mary Anning, who discovered the fossilised body of an ithychsaur.
We are now looking at reasons for modern day extinctions such as:
1) Climate change
3) Destruction of habitats
We are also currently learning to sing, play instruments, improvise and compose melodies to "Happy." Look out for upcoming videos!
This week we are lucky to have been invited to the LIFE exhibition at Belmont Church and the following week, we will visit Exeter Mosque to help us learn more about Islam.
In the second half of the Spring term, the children will be continuing their Quest Topic. Half way through the half term they will start 'The Highwayman'. Mrs Richardson will also be doing some additional RE work with the children while Mrs Bone does some 'fun' revisions for SATs.
It's a great term to be in Year 6!
Year Six have had a terrific start to the term. We’ve travelled to space: made inspiration zones with rockets, oxygen tanks, moon buggies, walkie talkies and helmets and made iMovies explaining how the Earth spins to get day and night. We learned about other planets in the solar system and we’re even learning how to talk about them in Spanish! We’re really looking forward to visiting @Bristol next month to find out even more interesting facts about space.
In English, we’ve been studying ‘La Luna’ by Pixar. As our main focus, we’ve been focusing on characterisation and below is a link to Jaguar class’ work on a padlet. We hope you like it.
